Desk-top publishing (DTP), graphic design and typesetting

In many cases, documents that need to be translated are available in editable formats compatible with software like Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Framemaker, QuarkXpress and Adobe InDesign, among others. This means our translators can work directly on a copy of the original file and replace the source text with its translation. As a result, the client receives a translated file in the same format as the original.

Sometimes, particularly when translating out of English, the translated text is longer than the original, which means that our translators may need to modify the document format slightly (text box size, text font size, etc.) to ensure that the translation fits into the same area on the page as the source text.

However, when translating non-editable material, like paper documents or PDF files, our translators are not able to work on the original file and have to create a new one in a suitable format. In this case, we offer desk-top publishing, graphic design and typesetting services to clients who require a fully formatted translation.

Technical writing

One of a good translator's key skills is his/her ability to write well in his/her native language (which is another reason why professional translators only translate into their mother tongue). As a result, translators with strong writing skills also make good technical writers.

Our translators are particularly effective when it comes to producing original technical documentation that will later need to be translated, as they are aware of, and able to avoid, the potential pitfalls that the document's translators will face. Moreover, their understanding of the importance of terminological and stylistic consistency helps to streamline our clients' document production processes and cut overall creation and translation costs and lead times.

Transcription

This service is provided to clients who need to transcribe and/or translate audio material.

Our translation team possesses the competences needed to produce accurate transcriptions of audio recordings in English, Spanish, French and Catalan, as well as the skills required to translate the transcription into the required language.

Interpreting

Though not requiring the same skill set as translation, interpreting is a related service performed by many translators.

Our team members possess the competences needed to interpret accurately and fluently between English, Spanish and French at events ranging from business meetings through to press conferences and congresses.
